Al-Farabi KazNU’s cooperation with the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University
On April 29, 2024, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University’s Higher School of Economics and Business welcomed Professor Dr. Syed Abdul Hamid Aljunid, Senior Lecturer and Head of Programme Masters in Islamic Finance Practice (MIFP) at the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF) University. This visit aimed to foster meaningful discussions, idea exchange, and potential collaborations between the esteemed institutions.
INCEIF was set up by Bank Negara Malaysia in 2005 and has been mandated to develop and nurture talent and experts in the Islamic financial services industry. As a university, INCEIF offers postgraduate studies in Islamic finance. INCEIF aims to be the knowledge leader in Islamic finance through providing excellent teaching, research and thought leadership.
The highlight of the visit was a public lecture organized by Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development, delivered by Professor Dr. Aljunid. The lecture titled “Development in Islamic Finance” provided valuable insights into this field. It should be noted that development in islamic finance promotes sustainability by fostering ethical and socially responsible investment practices, encouraging equitable distribution of wealth, supporting environmental stewardship, prioritizing long-term stability, and promoting community development. INCEIF University, known for its expertise in Islamic finance, believes that sharing knowledge in this domain will also contribute to mutual enrichment and strengthen bilateral ties between the institutions.
During the visit, efforts were made to identify opportunities for establishing academic partnerships, including student and faculty exchange programs, joint research projects, collaborative degree programs, and capacity building initiatives. Moreover, the visit aimed to promote collaboration opportunities with Al-Farabi KazNU’s Business Schools, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centers, Leadership Centers, and Startup Incubators. Strengthening institutional ties and fostering relationships were emphasized as crucial steps towards facilitating future collaborations and partnerships.
Professor Syed Abdul Hamid Aljunid’s visit is a step towards developing global partnership in the field of Islamic finance. KazNU believes that collaboration with INCEIF University will promote the advancement of academic and scientific leadership practices, contributing to prosperity and a sustainable future.
