Almaty Youth Forum

Dear colleagues!

UNICEF in Kazakhstan, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has shared information regarding the annual regional event — Almaty Regional Youth Forum 2026: "Central Asia United for Sustainable Development".

To participate in the forum, please complete the pre-registration at the following link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfzvxEDl6p38cSfXEa850zWbFfgqJY4hZtdE36EOx9A0Q1gBA/viewform. Registration is open to all interested participants, students, and volunteers.

The Forum will take place on August 10–11, 2026, in Almaty. The primary venues will be the Palace of Schoolchildren and the Almaty Museum of Arts.

The forum program features high-level panel sessions, practical workshops, TEDx-style speeches by prominent leaders, and an exhibition of the 36 best youth social projects from across Central Asia. It also includes the Project Battle finale, where winners will receive grant support to implement their initiatives.

The main thematic areas of the event cover:

We invite young leaders, students, volunteers, and representatives of government agencies, international organizations, the business community, universities, and civil society from Central Asian countries to participate.

We encourage all interested parties to take an active part in the forum’s activities. This platform is designed to be the first regular regional dialogue space dedicated to unlocking the potential of Central Asian youth, strengthening youth diplomacy, and achieving sustainable development goals.

Dilyara Urmanova, Director of the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development, Appointed International Reviewer for the Journal of Sustainability Perspectives

Dr. Dilyara Urmanova (PhD), Director of the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has joined the panel of International Reviewers for the Journal of Sustainability Perspectives (J. Sustainability Perspect.).

The inclusion of a Kazakhstani expert in the journal’s reviewer board is a significant recognition of the high-level academic expertise of our researchers and an important step towards strengthening international scientific cooperation in sustainable development.

About the Journal: The Journal of Sustainability Perspectives is an international, peer-reviewed Open Access journal published by Universitas Diponegoro (Indonesia) in collaboration with its SDGs Center. The publication focuses on applied research, best-practice reports, and innovative methodologies in environmental management, decarbonization, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation, and campus sustainability (including standards aligned with the UI GreenMetric global ranking).

In her role as an International Reviewer, Dr. Urmanova will evaluate scientific manuscripts submitted from around the world, ensuring the high academic rigor of publications related to sustainability and environmental sciences.

“Serving as an international reviewer is a valuable opportunity not only to contribute to the independent expert evaluation of cutting-edge global research, but also to promote Kazakhstan's scientific potential and strengthen our institute's ties with the global academic community,” noted Dr. Dilyara Urmanova.

The participation of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University experts in international academic governance enhances the university’s global standing and contributes to Kazakhstan’s active engagement with the global ESG agenda.

Free Online Courses by the Ban Ki-moon Foundation

The Ban Ki-moon Foundation is an international organization dedicated to fostering leadership for the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement. Holding special consultative status with the UN ECOSOC since 2022, the Foundation actively engages with decision-makers and young "change-makers" to address pressing global challenges.

As part of its mission, the Foundation offers a series of free, self-paced online courses developed in collaboration with prestigious academic and international partners, such as Yonsei University and Dubai Cares. These programs allow learners to explore key aspects of sustainable development, global citizenship, and climate action through interactive modules and discussion forums.
