International practical conference “Sustainable Development Through the Transformation of ESG Financial Instruments”

The Higher School of Economics and Business at Al-Farabi KazNU hosted an international practical conference titled “Sustainable Development Through the Transformation of ESG Financial Instruments.” Organized with support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the event commemorated the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Higher School of Economics and Business at KazNU. The conference is part of the grant-financed scientific and technical project IRN AP19679105, focusing on the “Transformation of ESG Financial Instruments in the Context of Developing a Green Economy in the Republic of Kazakhstan.”

The conference commenced with a ceremonial opening, featuring a welcoming address by Nurmagambetova Azhar Zeynullaevna, PhD, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, and Head of the Department of Finance and Accounting at KazNU, who also served as the event moderator. Leila Abdrashevna Bimendieva, Dean of the Higher School of Economics and Business at KazNU, also addressed the participants.

Keynote presentations were delivered by Ahmad Afandi Mahfudz, Professor at the University of Darussalam Gontor, Indonesia; Mukhanova Gainy Kazibayevna, Director of the Research Institute “Academy of Financial Monitoring” under the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Niyazbekova Shakizada Uteulievna, Associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. The discussions covered a range of topics, including alternative tools for addressing environmental issues, the identification of threats and opportunities for companies, risk management systems, and the impact of digital finance on clean energy and green bonds.

The conference continued with contributions from experts from Kazakhstan, Russia, and other countries, addressing a broad spectrum of topics related to sustainable development and the transformation of ESG financial instruments. Participants presented on current issues such as green insurance, corporate governance, digital technologies for enhancing energy efficiency, and many other pertinent subjects.
