KazNU students and researchers take part in a series of events within the framework of the United Nations Summit of the Future – 2024

Students and researchers of KazNU under the coordination of Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development took part in a series of events within the framework of the "UN
Summit of the Future", which take place from September 18-23, 2024.

The opening of the series of events began with the 16th Global Pre-Summit on the occasion of the launch of the Master's in Development Practice Program (MDP), in which Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development made a presentation speech on the experience of implementing the program in the educational process and employment of graduates of KazNU. The Pre-summit was attended by experts from all partner-universities of the Global MDP Association, where they had the opportunity to discuss and interact with other partners based on their experience in implementing the principles of the SDGs in the educational and research process at their university.


The MDP program undergoes in between 35 partner-universities from around the world, including Columbia University, Harvard University, University of California, Berkeley, Manash
University in Australia, University of Minnesota, Waterloo University, Tsinghua, National Taiwan University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Scientific University of Malaysia and many others. Moreover, within the the partner-universities of the Global MDP from Central Asia is only Al-Farabi KazNU. Hence KazNU joined the MDP Global Association, about 50 projects have been implemented by the course participants, and about 70% have been employed by UN agencies and other national and international companies in the areas of SDG implementation.

The Institute also organized a round table for students and researchers of KazNU within the framework of the International Conference on Sustainable Development organized by the
Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) at Columbia University, the Global Association of Master's in Development Practice program, the International Community of Professionals in the Field of Sustainable Development (ISSP), Giti Group Corporation and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy", where the participants of the round table could listen to the speeches of international experts and the scientific community on the issues of Amplifying all Voices for SDG Achievement, digitalization, climate change, cities and communities, including smart cities, agri-food systems, Advancing Impactful Research and Education, Enhancing Governance in Diverse Sectors.
