Environmental campaign for sorting plastic within the framework of the International Day of Zero Waste

On March 27, 2025, as part of the International Day of Zero Waste observed according to the UN calendar, an environmental campaign for sorting plastic waste took place at the first creative Eco-Hub.
Students from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, with the support of the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development and Eco Network project leader Yevgeny Mukhamedzhanov, participated in the event.
The main goal of the initiative was not only to reduce plastic waste but also to foster an environmental culture among young people. Participants sorted and prepared plastic caps, bags, and other materials for recycling, thereby contributing to responsible consumption and reducing the negative impact of waste on the environment.
Beyond the practical work, the event helped raise student awareness in the field of sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of conscious resource consumption, waste recycling, and collective responsibility for the planet’s ecological well-being. According to the organizers, such initiatives promote partnerships between educational institutions, public organizations, and businesses, laying the foundation for long-term environmental changes.
