JOINT MUN CONFERENCE ON THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY
New Silk Way International Model UN in Kazakhstan and Pamir International Model UN in Afghanistan jointly organized an International Online Conference on August 12, 2020.
The online conference was dedicated to the International Youth Day.
More than eighty delegates took part in the conference from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Italy, Thailand, Indonesia, the Russian Federation, Belorussia, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan. This event was designed to bring together young minds to discuss the impact and challenges of COVID-19 Pandemic and the cease-fire consequences during the pandemic in two big sessions on Zoom platform.
This event took place within the context of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) Initiative, coordinated and supported by the al-Farabi Kazakh National University in close cooperation with the United Nations Information Office (UNIC) in Almaty, the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan in Almaty, foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Kazakhstan and Afghanistan.
The keynote speaker of the event Mr. Vlastimil Samek who is the Representative of the United Nations Department of Global Communications in the Republic of Kazakhstan congratulated young leaders with the International Youth Day and truly wished a productive debate.
Moreover, the participants of the international conference hosted Mr. Ahmad Javid Qazizada who is the Adviser to the Minister of Public Health of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. He focused on the current situation related to COVID-19 Pandemic and its effects on Afghanistani population. Having wished fruitful discussions and resolutions to young policy makers he expressed his gratitude for the organizing committee for such an amazing platform. Apart from this, there were distinguished guests from UNDP Kazakhstan, Mr. Askhat Zhumabayev, and Mr. Hamza Muhammad Ihtiar from the Embassy of Afghanistan in Kazakhstan.
At the end of the conference the successful participants were awarded with certificates of recognition according to the normative protocol of the Model UN debates.
