Al-Farabi Kazakh National University achieved the 401–600 position in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking for 2026. 

This is an excellent result on a global scale. There are approximately 30,000 universities worldwide, yet the THE ranking selects just about 2,000 of the best. Being included in this group means the university ranks among the top 2–3% of higher education institutions globally. 

The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking measures how universities advance social and environmental sustainability. It is the only global ranking that evaluates universities against the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and looks at their real-world social and economic impact. It provides a roadmap and global benchmark to track sustainable practices, shape campus policy, and attract students or faculty who care about social responsibility.
