Climate TRACE Open Data: Emissions and Air Pollution in Almaty
As a member of the International Universities Climate Alliance (IUCA), Al-Farabi Kazakh National University presents open information resources for exploring Almaty’s climate and environmental challenges.
The Climate TRACE platform enables users to explore sources of greenhouse gas emissions, assess opportunities to reduce them, and examine how air pollution spreads.
Two interactive tools are available for the Almaty urban area:
- Emissions Reduction Opportunities — explore potential measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- PM₂.₅ Air Pollution Map — visualize the dispersion of fine particulate matter from sources included on the platform.
These resources may support students, researchers, and civil society organizations in developing educational projects, analyzing environmental challenges, and discussing solutions for the city’s sustainable development.
The estimates are based on Climate TRACE data and models and complement ground-based air quality monitoring results.
